As Microsoft disabled basic auth on October 1st, we now see all of our customers exchange backups failing if they use modern-auth with legacy protocols. We only use this type of authentication for our customers who have public folders because as far as i know, there is still no way to backup public folders without legacy auth?
The error we receive is: "Failed to access mailbox.. The request failed with HTTP status 401"
There is a workaround where you can re-enable basic auth for specific protocols, but that may also be restricted in the future: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/ ... -p/2772210
What do you guys do now when you need to backup public folders?

Re: Microsoft disabling basic auth
Hello
We have a created a kb article about the basic auth deprecation.
https://www.veeam.com/kb4365
Microsoft's recommendation is to migrate Public Folders to M365 groups.
You can also migrate Public Folder to Shared Mailboxes.
Thanks
Fabian
