Vmware instant recovery To VMwares

Post by Ciso_2021 »

Hi Guys,

We have a customer using hyper v 2016. They decided to move to VMware Esxi 7.x
The customer has already bought Veeam Backup and replication last year and lately updated from V10 to 11.
I’ve contacted the sale team and they said this possible with veeam instant recovery to migrate the VM between hyper v and VMware.
Is this possible ? Do we need a special licenties for ?

I appreciate your answers.

Hi Julien

Yes, it‘s possible. No special license is required.
Restore is always possible. Even with the free version.

After the migration, maybe you have to revoke the old licenses to be able to backup the VMs on the new hypervisor. You can revoke socket and VUL licenses.
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=110

Note that after the migration, new backup chains will be created for each vm.

Thanks
