Debugging CBT backup
Is there any way of debugging exactly which files Veeam is reading during a backup? The daily backup of a 2TB always processes 500GB and takes about 2 hours to run but only transfers a few GB into the repository. It's almost as if CBT isn't working and its re-reading files again. You can't use Resource Monitor as the backup is hidden behind a volume shadow copy.

Re: Debugging CBT backup
Hello,
If it's slow, please contact support. It makes no sense to explain that type of troubleshooting on a forum.
Best regards,
Hannes
what did Veeam support say? case number? It's almost as if CBT isn't working and its re-reading files again.
none The software backs up blocks. That's why it's called "change block tracking". The job log should show whether CBT is used or not. One should see [CBT] in one of the messages.which files Veeam is reading

I use the community edition myself as I'm a lone support engineer. Veeam support have always closed my cases saying "too busy" so I've given up.

Sorry I don't understand this. Asking whether CBT is logged (which is NOT a support question but a "how to") seems a perfectly good question for a public forum.

CBT is being used as that's reported in the job report just seems to be reading more than you'd expect. I'll have a look at the underlying logs.

Re: Debugging CBT backup
Hello,
yes, chances to get support are low for community edition users. For server edition, there would also be a Veeam CBT driver, which might be faster. But that's irrelevant then here.
Logs are in c:\programdata\veeam\endpoint - feel free to dive into it.
Best regards,
Hannes

Re: Debugging CBT backup
A couple of my clients do license Veeam so I guess I could be naughty and raise a case that way I'm a bit supporter of Veeam just use the community edition personally as there is just me.
