How do I keep a backup in Object Storage?
Hi,
when I removed a backup from the repository, it is automatically removed from (Object Storage).
How do I keep what's in the cloud as backup history?
Thanks.

Hi Sandro
You can manually move backups. But only inactive ones:
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=110
Reading from the other topic you have storage space issues. You should use the calculator I have provided there and buy new storage if necessary.
Thanks
Fabian

Re: How do I keep a backup in Object Storage?
Hi,
Yes, I need more space, but right now I can't do it.
I understood what happened.
He didn't make a complete one, but made an increment (.vib), but with a large size due to the change in the physical disks. As space is tight, we ran out of disk space.
I have a complete chain in the cloud and I want to keep it.
The solution you sent me is to move it to another local space first that I don't have, as you mentioned.
I'll need to remove everything that's on-premises to start over but I don't want to affect what's in the cloud.
I think about adding a new object storage repository to the current (Scale-out Backup Repository) to start all over again. So if I need to restore old data, I can do it using the orphaned object storage.
Is this valid?
Thanks.

Re: How do I keep a backup in Object Storage?
No, the link is correct. It‘s moving to object storage, not local storage. The solution you sent me is to move it to another local space first that I don't have, as you mentioned.
You have to remove all local backups if you don‘t have a second storage device. Non offloaded backups will be gone. But it could work. Just not as a long term solution.I think about adding a new object storage repository to the current (Scale-out Backup Repository) to start all over again. So if I need to restore old data, I can do it using the orphaned object storage.
I still suggest to get support involved. Let them have a look at your environment.
Thanks

Re: How do I keep a backup in Object Storage?
Hi,
I'll try, as a last resort I ask for help with support.
I figured the process would be pretty simple.
this move capacity tier doesn't show up for me, so I understood that I need a new one (Scale-out Backup Reposiltory) which is one (Local Backup Repositories + One Object storage) that I can't create because I don't have space in place.
Following my attempt, I created a new Object storage it reported that these backups would be unavailable. It's fine, as long as I can import it again without any problems.
I attached it and imported it, but it still hasn't appeared in the backups.
Thanks.

Re: How do I keep a backup in Object Storage?
Hi,
Why do I ask this.
Imagine I lost my Veeam Backup and I need to reinstall.
I figured I could just plug in the Azure Blob and restore directly without affecting the backup history.
Thanks.
