Scale-out Backup Repository is not synch

Post by storageguy »

Hi,

I tried to change the performance extents of the Scale-out Backup Repository. The changed process was successful, but when I tried to run the jobs it failed with the following error:
"Cannot proceed with the job: existing backup meta file 'job1.vbm' on repository 'Scale-out Backup Repository' is not synch"

Also I noticed that all the backup jobs are no longer listed under "Home - Backups - Disk" view.

Any idea on what is causing it and how to fix it?

Thanks,
foggy

Since it is not clear what exactly you did, it's hard to guess what happened. Please contact technical support for a closer look. Thanks!

I think the whole error message has a suggestion about potential remedy action - "existing backup meta file on repository is not synchronized with DB. To resolve this, run repository rescan". Have you tried to rescan Scale-Out Backup Repository? Thanks!

In a production environment, I would advise conferring with Veeam support. In my case, however, this occurred on a lab system of mine. I was able to resolve by renaming the broken .vbm file and then re-running the job. The .vib and .vbk files should contain all the necessary data to re-assemble the incrementals and continue onward.
