Powershell script or alternative to create remote snapshot

Post by insaneclown »

Hi,

We have some VM's we need to update in the weekends, but without interaction of our IT department.
Is there some role-assignment or creation, that we can agree on with the IT department, so we can create snapshots of several VM's through any powershell scripts/commands or other alternatives?
We do not want to need to ask them everytime... and we want to have the possibility to create/delete/revert snapshots.

Is there any possibility to agree on this like a powershell script for example, after having the correct permissions to talk againts the vcenter inventory?

Thnx!

Hi

With veeam, you can use quick backup. We don‘t have our own powershell commands to create and delete vm snapshots.

If you want to orchestrate vSphere snapshots, you have to use vPower CLI. There are a few examples in the internet. Just use google and you should get some links.
Or ask the same question in the vmware forum.
