Hi guys,

After about 5 minutes the Veeam Agent fails with the following error. The hidden partitions seem to work fine, but the C Drive always fails. No SMART errors on C Drive disk. Any idea what is causing this?

Any idea what is causing this?

these are the ideas, but I would wait what support says. Because support checks the logs, which is usually more efficient than guessing ideas

Hi Hannes,

So if I read that right it seems to be a partition alignment problem, and by shrinking the disk and then extending it again it then re-aligns the partition? I tried to shrink the partition, reboot, expand the partition, reboot, try the backup again, but it still fails at the 5-6 minute mark.

I'm now running a full check disk on the C Drive to see if it sees anything interesting.

Disk Check came back with nothing interesting.

I note that the backup seems to fail at roughly the same point. Does this give a clue as to what is happening?

I see that this workstation is missing patches KB5020694, KB5019959, and KB890830. The first two fix an issue with services not starting correctly, such as Print Spooler, Windows Defender Firewall, and software VPNs failing to communicate properly. I'm installing them now, will see how it goes.

I have uninstalled Veeam Agent using REVO Uninstaller, rebooted, reinstalled Veeam Agent, and reset the Veeam Agent database using these steps:

1. Stop the Veeam Endpoint Backup service
2. Delete folder C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server Local DB\Instances\VeeamEndPoint
3. Delete folder C:\ProgramData\Veeam\EndpointData
4. Set registry value HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Veeam\Veeam Endpoint Backup\RecreateDatabase to "1"
5. Start Veeam Endpoint Backup service

After all this it has still failed:

Uninstalled Veeam Agent and installed Ashampoo Backup Pro 15. Started a backup, but then get this error after a 18 minutes:

At this stage I think the VSS writers or the Windows 10 operating system as a whole is corrupt, so I'm going to put a new SSD in it on Monday afternoon and install Windows 10 and Veeam Agent to test the backup.

uhm, looks like you opened the case without support contract number. The case is in the "free products" queue which have support based on "best effort"
