[MERGED] Release date for V12
Morning all,
Do we have an official release date for V12 yet? I know we're currently in beta. But thought it might've come out after VeeamOn.
Does anyone have anymore info?
Thanks!

Hi Lawrence
No release date yet. RTM in January is a possibility.
We will update this topic once if we have a better estimation.
Thanks,
Fabian

Re: Veeam V12
Any ETA on the V12 release?
Eagerly waiting for it so we can start multiple projects that rely on being able to send backups directly to object storage.
We miss your blogs, @Gostev, but I know the reasons

RTM in January is still a possibility... I guess you meant object storage?

Re: Veeam V12
For the RTM, can we test the SQL to Postgres migration?

I'm having trouble finding the docs for this migration. Are there any guides or procedures for this?

@vladvv
Our userguides are in a preview state. I'll send you the link per DM.
@MPG
Our partner and service provider got the download information for RTM yesterday per mail. If you are an end user, you may open a support case if you need access to the RTM. GA is expected in 2 weeks. Then the download will be available to anyone.
Best,
Fabian

One last question: Does Veeam ONE support Postgres?

Re: Veeam V12
No.
Veeam One relies on Microsoft SQL Reporting Services for it's reports.
So it's still MSSQL for Veeam One v12.
Best,
Fabian

Re: Veeam V12
Hi All!
Taking in account that "File to Tape" will consume instance in v12, I just have a couple of questions:
1- I´m sure we will have big performance improvements on it, I´m right? Could be a good option backup 350TB data on NAS directly to tape with the new performance improvements?
2- Tape Server resources will have some hardware requirements changes from v12?
Thanks!

Re: Veeam V12
From the What's New draft:
And no hardware requirements changes for the tape server AFAIK.Scalable file backup engine – no more struggling with backing up a large number of files directly to tape using a tape out engine designed for exporting a small number of large image-level backup files! The new, redesigned file backup engine in V12 was built to scale to billions of files of petabytes in size, allowing you to back up enterprise scale NAS deployments directly to tape with confidence. This new capability supports all the same data sources and is licensed in the same way as the existing NAS backup to disk functionality. Exporting Veeam backups to tape does not consume a license.
Tape server on Linux – in addition to Windows-based tape servers, you can now register tape libraries and tape drives connected to Linux servers.

@Mildur
Can you send me a link to the userguides also? I'm with a CSP and looking to install it to start testing before we upgrade our production.

@rlmicrosa
Could you please open a ticket with Veeam support to get the RTM builds then. Unfortunately I won‘t be able to check your partner status till next week.
@tmcdaniel@eatel.com
The entire user guide is still in review phase. It may contain technical errors or critical typos which could lead to issues in your infrastructure.
Best,
Fabian

Re: Veeam V12
No, such "forward compatibility" is never possible.
VCC-Server must be on V12 to support clients with V12 backup server.
If not, jobs will fail.
Best,
Fabian

Re: Veeam V12
Hi Fabian
I got the v12 RTM but could not find a license (trail or evaluation). v12 Beta3 license does not work with RTM.
I was trying to test move backup feature between repositories but could not find it in community edition state.

Re: Veeam V12
There's no special V12 license. Just use your existing license (from your V10 or V11 install).
