Data domain backup copy reverse incremental

Post by matteu »

Hello,

I don't know why, but I see on my backup copy chain it's on reverse incremental mode ?
How is it possible ?

Backup copy should be incremental forever if my knowledge is good :) no ?

It is even more interesting that backup copy jobs do not have reverse incremental mode at all - it is possible only for regular backup jobs. How do you tell it is a reverse incremental?

Mmmmm, no, I'm just dumb....

It's a vbk but I just look at the date.... It's normal the date is today because there is no GFS and retention should happened....
It tooks more than 1h / day to merge vib into vbk.
2vbk : 120GB + 770GB
vib are arround 7GB and 1GB

Is there a way to avoid it or I just need to use GFS ?

The Datadomain is only used for backup copy but it's used as a target from 8 differents VBR infrastructure .

If you want to avoid merge, then you can enable GFS, right.
