Hi..

How backup copy works? Does backup copy work by duplicating of main backup so result of backup copy will identical with main backup or backup copy will take snapshot from the VM?

Welcome to the Forum.

A Backup Copy job won't take another snapshot of the VM.
Backup Copy Job copies an existing restore point from a backup job to a secondary repository. The content of the restore point will be the same as in your primary backup repository.

Hi Fabian,

My VM job have retention for 7 days both for main backup and for backup copy. If we see on the physical file there are different total of files and different capacity also. If backup copy just copy existing restore point, the backup copy should have same total files and same capacity for each files, am i right?

They have their own backup chain and own retention settings (short term, long term). So it's possible that you won't see a exact same count of restore points.

In your case it seems that one of the jobs is forever forward incremental, and the other one is configured to have weekly full backups.
With weekly full backups and 7 days retention you will see 7 to 14 restore points for that job, while the other job with forever forward incremental will always see only 7 restore points.

I think yes, my main backup set to 7 days retention with synthetic full backup every Saturday but on backup copy there are no setting like this so i believe backup copy is forever incremental backup. Thanks you

You're welcome.
For backup copy jobs you can enable weekly GFS settings. You can decide on which day the weekly GFS full must be created.
