SQL server data compression

Post by TitaniumCoder477 »

Our customer is considering compressing a very large (6TB+) SQL DB using one of the data compression methods documented at https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/r ... erver-2016.

What will be the impact to the Veeam backup of the server, SQL log backups, and SQL log truncation routines?

Hello,

We do not expect any issues however there might be performance drawbacks while working with the compressed database. We will double-check and update this thread with the results.

James, got a configuration that compression does not affect backup, restore and log shipping. Thank you!
