Backup copy in Object Storage

Post by DVelez »

Hi!
Does the latest version of Veeam Agent for Windows support backup copies to object storage?

Hi Daniel

If you are asking about Direct Backup to Object Storage, then yes, it is possible with the new Agent release. You can create a backup job which points to object storage.

But backup copy jobs for Agent backups still require a Veeam Backup & Replication server. Backup copy jobs directly to object storage is supported with a VBR server.

We have some small customers with single servers that have no access to an additional server with VBR. In these cases, will it be reasonable to have two jobs, one for a local repository and another job for object storage?

Thanks,
DV

Hi DV

Yes, you can do that.
I‘m also protecting my personal notebook with two object storages.
Please note, using two backup jobs will require a Veeam Agent for Server license.

One exception from this license rule, if you target 1 job to local storage and 1 Job to a cloud connect repository which is stored on Object Storage. Then you can use a workstation license.

Maybe you have a cloud connect environment in place if you are talking about customer. Customers with single server will most likely use your rental license so you could use your cloud connect and VSPC infrastructure to provide object storage repositories as a cloud connect service to them.

Best,
