V12 - Migrate Iimmutable SOBR to individual repos

Post by NorthGuard »

I am upgrading a V11 installation that is using SOBR to allow for offsite copy to immutable storage at Wasabi. The configuration required SOBR. The on-prem repo is a QNAP NBAS and the cloud repo is Wasabi.

When all is said and done, I would like this install to backup to local immutable repository (using QuObjects on the QNAP ) and the backup copy that to the Wasabi immutable cloud storage.

How do I move the existing local repo to the immutable QuObjects location?

How do eliminate the SOBR?

Hello,
creating a new standalone object repository QuObjects -> move backups (per job) to QuObjects -> create a new backup copy job that copies what you want would be the easiest way.

Local worked fine, but the capacity tier is a different story.

Documentation indicates I would have needed to copy the points from the capacity tier down to the performance tier first. I ended up just creating a new cloud repo and resyncing all local points, which is a huge pain.... though probably faster that first copying all points down and then back up?

What would be the most efficient method for dealing with the capacity tier?
- copy all down to to the performance tier and then copying them a new cloud repo?
OR
- just resync all local points to a new cloud repo?

Hello,
"backup copy jobs" and "capacity tier" use a different format. "capacity tier" is for "whole repository". Backup copy jobs are "per job" (or "per repository") and one can even exclude machines. So one cannot simply map anything.

The way I suggested should have copied everything to QNAP (I'm not 100% what exactly you did).

For the given scenario, I only see "download & upload" as option.

Best regards,
Hannes
