Additional SCSI controllers on backup proxy VM

Post by meier »

Hello,
have the same problem in v6 (v5 works fine).
i have fixed it.
We add a second SCSI-Controller to the virtual VEEAM-Server, the warnings (....failing over to network mode) no longer appear, and the backups AND replications are very fast.
Gostev, any idea? Is this the solution for v6?
Thanks.

Hi Holger - I've split your post into the new topic, because the topic you chose to post this in is about different procesing mode (direct SAN access) and different problem. As far as your question, for virtual backup proxy servers using the virtual appliance processing mode (aka Hot Add) adding additional virtual SCSI controller is a good practice, because a single default controller may not have enough capacity to hot add all backed up VM disks when running multiple concurrent tasks and processing VMs with multiple disks. Thanks!

would adding a second controller only be helpful if I am backup up more than 16 disks at one time?

If the max disks I backup concurrently is only 4 would I benefit from adding a second controller?
