Job result in log file

Post by Kei »

Hi

I use "Managed by agent" backup job.
I understand VBR gets the job result conducted by agent after protection group scan.
I would like to know in which log file the job result is described because I plan to use 3rd party monitoring tool (Logic Monitor).

Best regards.

Hi Keita

I suggest you monitor windows event logs with your 3rd party monitoring tool.
That should give you the required information about the job session.
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/agent ... tml?ver=60
https://www.logicmonitor.com/support/lo ... monitoring
Source: Veeam Agent
Event ID: 190

If you want to have a look at the logs, you can find them here:
C:\ProgramData\Veeam\Endpoint

In this folder, you will find subfolders for each configured job.
For my test policy it's this file:
"C:\ProgramData\Veeam\Endpoint\PolicyName\Job.Backup.log"

Hi Fabian

Thank you for your answer.
I would like to monitor only VBR. (not server installed veeam agent)

On VBR Windows Server event viewer, I could see the logs for protection group and agent policy job applied to veeam agent.
But I can not see whether actual backup job was success or failed on VBR Windows Server event viewer.

I understand VBR has the agent job result after protection group scan, so could you tell me how to check the agent backup job result on VBR Windows Server?

Thank you.

Hi Keita

I'm afraid, the data is in the database on the VBR server and not in a log file.
The backup server does not process the backup job. So he won't have log files or event logs for it.

You can get backup job status with the following PowerShell command:
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120

Maybe you can work with it in your monitoring software. Or write a script yourself which collects the information from VBR and provides in a format your monitoring software can read.
