what about the backup copy files after deleting the backup job files?

Post by WWN »

Hello,

I know that Veeam backup copy job will monitor if ther is a new retore point of the source backup job. If someone delete the .vbk or .vib of the backup job manually, will the files of backup copy job disappear too? Because my customer deleted the backup job file and wanted to see what will happen during POC. We found the backop copy files are also been deleted. Any function of VBR can prevent this kind of man made error?

Hello Wang

Backup Copy Restore Points won't disappear just because someone deleted backup files from a source backup job. Please let your customer open a support and share the case number with us. Logs will tell what has happened in your customers environment.
Any function of VBR can prevent this kind of man made error?
- Immutable repositories (Hardened Repo, Object Storage)
- Airgapped backup storage (External Drives, Tapes)
- Cloud Connect with Insider Protection

Hello Fabian,

Thanks for your advice. After I submited my question, I asked more detail with customer. Actually, he deleted the backup job from VBR instead of backup files.

Thanks!
Willy

Hi Willy

Thanks. If the source job was deleted, I can only think of the "deleted items policy".

If you open a support case, Logs will exactly tell you why they were deleted.
