Multi tennant support ONTAP

Post by tom.schmidt »

I ran in a bit of a problem while trying to setup NAS backup with storage integration on NetApp (Veeam B&R 12).
We use a NetApp FAS as centralized storage for multiple AD-domains. The domains are standalone, so no AD forrest.
I can add the NetApp to the storage infrastructure using a local account on the NetApp-cluster.
When I add a fileshare to backup, i can (only) select the previously added storage system and set the credentials for accessing the NAS.
And here is the problem: I can only select credentials from one AD-domain. These credentials are only valid for backuping this specific domain.
When creating the backup job, the credentials from the previous step a used, it is not possible to set credentials for the job itself.
I'm not able to add a new fileshare on the same NetApp cluster because it already exists in the NAS Filers section (where the credentials a set)...
Any ideas?

You're correct there's no option for choosing different AD accounts at the share or job level. The only way I see to accomplish this is simply to add the NetApp shares as individual generic SMB shares...

@ronn:
But then I loose the generic storage integration and have to fiddle with pre-/post- scripting for snapshot management. I see no technical reason why it is implemented this way or am i missing something?

It simply wasn't designed for a multi-tenant environment like this. You're certainly welcome to register an enhancement request to address this functionality in these forums however...
