retention policy

Hello,

My retention policy is set to 4 day on the backup, but on the file why i have 6 incremental backup? Anyone can explain to make me more understand about veeam retention policy? Also how i can attach picture to this forum?

Hi Handian

Have you enabled periodic full backups?
The oldest two backups cannot be deleted until a new backup chain (vbk + vib) reaches 4 restore point.

If we would delete your oldest 2 backup files (vbk + 1 vib), you wouldn‘t be able to restore from the other incremental backup files in this chain.

Helo Fabian,

Because i can't attach picture here, so i explain like this :
18 march : Full Backup
19 - 24 march : Incremental Backup
25 march : Full Backup
26 march : Incremental Backup

so i have 9 files, and on every Saturday we do the synthetic full backup.

Yes, please read the user guide I have linked. It‘s explained there. We cannot delete backups from 18-22 march, if you want to restore from 23 and 24 march.
