Veeam Community Edition and Dell EMC Data Domain

Post by hussainbte »

I have a Veeam community addition and cannot see data-domain as a repository while configure AHV Backups.
DD is available as a repository for VMware image backups but not for AHV backup job

Hi Mohammed

You cannot use our Data Domain Integration with the community edition. A VUL license (or Socket with at least Enterprise functionality) is required. Are you using it as an SMB Share? I recommend you to check out the license price to benefit from the DDBoost integration.

If added as an SMB Share, have you configured access permissions for that repository in the proxy properties?

Hi Fabian, I have configured the repository with DD boost and it is available for a backup job for VMware VMs. then why not with Nutanix AHV.
I have verified the Proxy visibility and it is configured to have access to all repositories

Hi Mohammed

I'm not sure how you do it with Veeam Community Edition. The limitation is also documented in our Feature comparison guide on Page 8:
https://www.veeam.com/veeam_data_platfo ... son_ds.pdf

It's a bug, If you can use the community edition to write backups with DDBoost. I see the correct behavior in my lab with the community edition and DDBoost.

Error: Backup to Dell Data Domain via DDBoost requires valid Enterprise edition of Veeam Backup & Replication

Can you share screenshots from your environment?
