Availability Monitoring

Post by rjoffe »

ESXi Host with Veeam Monitor running in a vm on that server.

The vm running Veeam Monitor is suspended, and then enabled.

Is there a way for Veeam Monitor to realize it has been offline, and send an alert ?

Hi Ron,

That's not possible, but could you please describe me the use case for this alarm? Btw, the same reaction you would like to get when you stop and then start monitor service, right?

Thanks!

The ESXi host is rebooted, as part of the shutdown the Veeam Monitor VM is suspended, and restored on startup. Veeam Monitor never realizes that it was offline (and the host as well).

Would require something like a 1 minute heartbeats, and an alarm if more then x were missed. Last heartbeat successful at 12:03, system clock says it's now 12:34, we must have missed 31 heartbeats.

Just to make sure we are on the same page - you would like to receive an alarm from Monitor (once it is up and running again) which will tell you how long Monitor service has been in offline mode? How would you like to use this information?

A message with something like "Veeam seems to have been suspended for x minutes" would suffice.

The info would tell me the host on which the monitor was running was offline, useful to know if the underlying host was rebooted.
