Backup error - POSIX: Failed to write data to the file

Post by siaalien »

Hi all!

I have a CentOS 7 VPS server which I was backing up using VAL 5.0.2.4567 on a SMB share (hosted on a Synology NAS).

It worked well for a few months and then suddenly it started to fail. The messages veeam agent is displaying are:

Code: Select all

08:50:02 Job VPS-1 started at 2023-04-29 05:50:02 UTC
08:50:03 Preparing to backup
08:50:04 Backup file encryption is enabled
08:50:05 Creating volume snapshot
08:50:15 Starting full backup to Repository_1
08:50:20 Backing up BIOS bootloader on /dev/vda
08:50:22 Backed up vda 5 GB at 62.4 MB/s
08:51:54 [error] Backing up centos 14.2 GB at 3.9 MB/s (29%)
09:57:37 [error] Failed to perform backup
09:57:37 [error] Device or resource busy
09:57:37 [error] POSIX: Failed to write data to the file [/tmp/veeam/SHARED_FOLDER
09:57:37 [error] Failed to download disk 'Kh4Uku-dBRp-ihNI-J5KI-fqNZ-8OZY-bnEnPu'
09:57:37 [error] Processing finished with errors at 2023-04-29 06:57:37 UTC
It fails both on full backups and incremental ones.

Here is what I tried:
  • - deleted and recreated shared folder on NAS
    - deleted and recreated user on NAS
    - deleted and recreated backup job in VAL
    - completely removed VAL 5.0.2.4567 and installed VAL 6.0.0.1160
My server is CentOS Linux release 7.9.2009 (Core)
Kernel: 3.10.0-1160.81.1.el7.x86_64

Did any of you had a similar problem? Any help is much appreciated.

Thank you!

All the best!

Hello!

My Support Care number is 06038346. I am not sure I will get any support, as my trial for Veeam Backup & Replication Trial expired a few weeks ago...

Thank you!

All the best!
