Object Storage not Showing up as an Option

Post by ziadtmustafa »

[img]Hello everyone,

I have followed the KB articles but I cannot seem to find the object storage that I added in Veeam when I actually create a backup job to run. So Wasabi doesn’t show up in the drop-down menu as an option for my backup. Only local storage is showing up.

Anybody run into this and/or have ideas for me to resolve?? I am not sure if Veeam will allow me to insert/attach an image :)

Thank you in advance!!!

Hello Ziad

Did you add immutable object storage? It cannot be used by a primary job. Therefore it won‘t be displayed for such jobs. Immutable object storage is supported for backup copy jobs.

You can upload a picture to https://imgbb.com/ and then add the picture to the post.

Hi Fabian,

Can you explain how to do that? Or if you have a KB article you can reference? Don’t know how to do it.

Hello Ziad

Can you please let me know, did you have a Wasabi bucket with immutability?

You can follow those steps.

Non-immutable repository for backup and backup copy jobs:
1) Create a bucket without versioning and object locking on https://console.wasabisys.com/
2) Add a Wasabi Bucket as object storage: Adding Object Storage
3) Create a repository and extend it with your wasabi bucket: Adding Backup Repositories
4) Create a backup or backup copy job and point the job to the repository created in the previous step: Creating Backup Job or Creating Backup Copy Job

Immutable repository for backup copy jobs
1) Create a bucket with versioning and object locking on https://console.wasabisys.com/
2) Add a Wasabi Bucket as object storage: Adding Object Storage
3) Create a repository and extend it with your wasabi bucket: Adding Backup Repositories
4) Create a backup copy job and point the job to the repository created in the previous step: Creating Backup Copy Job

Hi Ziad

Please provide some screenshots from the configuration you have created.
I also suggest to open a support case. We cannot solve technical issues over the forum without having access to the environment. Our support has the tools to provide remote assistance and the experience to solve technical issues on our customers installations.

I asked in my first answer if you have an immutable repository. You have one. You cannot use immutable object storage for primary backup jobs. A primary backup job requires a repository without immutability.

Please follow the guide I have provided in my second comment. Add a repository without immutability.

Non-immutable repository for backup and backup copy jobs:
1) Create a bucket without versioning and object locking on https://console.wasabisys.com/
2) Add the Bucket as object storage: Adding Object Storage
3) Create a repository and extend it with your wasabi bucket: Adding Backup Repositories
4) Create a backup or backup copy job and point the job to the repository created in the previous step: Creating Backup Job or Creating Backup Copy Job

Hello Fabian,

So that is working now. Thanks. However, when I run the backup I get a lot of errors. Can I post here or start a new thread?

Hello Ziad

You're welcome.
Thanks for the other topic. But please open a support case before posting technical issues to the forum.
You can follow this kb article and then choose free products in step 5 with the drop down "I need support for":
https://www.veeam.com/kb1771

Topics about technical issues without a case number will be deleted. This is not a support forum, as explained in our forum rules in red letters when you create a new topic:
