Backup Copy to Wasabi - Gateway Server

Post by mbroaders »

I will be configuring Wasabi as backup copy location for Azure jobs. The Veeam Management server is hosted on premise. When adding the Wasabi object storage would specifying a gateway server hosted in Azure provide better performance? I am unsure of how traffic will route with and without the gateway server specified.

Hello,
probably yes (at least if you only have a Veeam Management server today and not any mount server defined that is running in Azure already).

https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120 - the table describes the routing with "direct" setting. I guess, everything goes back on-prem right now in your setup.

Best regards,
Hannes

Thanks Hannes

Current configuration is that the management server is on premise for VBR. So without specifying a gateway server in this scenario, backup copies of azure external repositories would come down from azure, through the management server and out to Wasabi?

It's about the mount server. My guess is, that the mount server is the management server.
