HI All,
Been dealing with a random intermittent issue for what is now a fairly long period where hot-add stops randomly working then it causes random lock issues and failing over to network mode not working etc.
Its been going on from v11 to v12
new proxies built
hostd logs, no expected NFC logs printed when VDDK tried to open the disk with hotadd. And we could find a lot of repeatedly IoTracker errors. It looks like a known issue that the number of WorkerLib threads in HostD is not enough. We have fixed the issue in ESXi 703P07
upgraded ESXi to u3i still got the same issue presenting in a similar manner.
Anyone had a similar issue?

Re: Hot-add randomly failing
Is this on backups or replicas?
I've seen similar on replicas where the disk is still attached to the proxy after the job completes. Simply removing the disk from the proxy (Not deleting from disk) fixes this.

Re: Hot-add randomly failing
Thanks,
In general no the disk is not stuck to the proxy.
Its for normal vbr, but replication is also an issue once the issue occurs
Basically you have to reboot vbr server, restart mgmt agents on esxi to get hotadd or backups working again on the affect host / hosts
