Upgrade to newer version

Post by jqei »

Hi, we're looking into upgrading to version 11.0.1.1261_20230227 (from 11.0.1.x) and hope if someone could confirm that these steps are correct?

1. Upgrade Checklist.
https://www.veeam.com/kb4245

2. Stop running jobs and disable backup and copy jobs.
https://www.veeam.com/kb2991

3. Take a Veeam database full backup on Veeam SQL server.
https://www.veeam.com/kb1471

4. Take a Veeam configuration backup:
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120

5. Take a quiesced VM snapshot of VBR server.

6. Upgrade primary VBR server to 11.0.1.1261_20230227.

7. Reboot VBR server.

8. If no issues update secondary VBR a week later using same process.

Do we need to stop all Veeam services at some point? Because kb2991 mentions this but sure if it’s needed?

Thanks.

Hi Jimmy

Sounds good to me. Please check also our Update page in the user guide: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/archive/ba ... g_vbr.html

The updater exe will take care of stopping services. You only have to stop and disable all backup and restore sessions.
