Where to place the VRO server?

Post by chrisflyckelen »

Hello guys,

I just started my work with VRO. From a conceptual perspective I ask myself, where to place a VRO server. Does it run on a physical server because VM doesn‘t makes any sense in my pov!? What about to run it in the cloud?

What do you think? Please share your thoughts.

Thank you,
Chris

Hello Chris,

We do have many customers who run VRO on a vSphere VM; a physical server is an option too, of course. And cloud is another possibility if you are operating a hybrid environment.

You can be flexible with where you place the VRO server, as it does not do any "heavy lifting"- it only sends orchestration commands, to Veeam Backup servers, vCenter, storage systems etc. So, there is no high data traffic flowing through the VRO server. It just requires network access to all the infrastructure components used for recovery (Veeam B&R, vCenter, Azure and so on)

Hope that helps!
