Upgrade To Veeam AWS Ver. 6.1.0.25

I got an email from AWS about the new Veeam for AWS version 6.1.0.25. Checking a pdf here (https://www.veeam.com/veeam_backup_aws_ ... tes_rn.pdf) it says I an do an upgrade by the upgrader that is built in but when I got to upgrade it says I am up to date. Is this just a delay on the upgrade being available or will I need to deploy a new Veeam EC2 instance (I hope not). Thanks.

You will be able to do the upgrade via Veeam Backup & Replication plugin. The updated plugin with this functionality onboard will be released soon, right now, the appliance has been published for new customers wishing to try out the product.

I just noticed in the AWS Marketplace, 6.1.0.25 is still on Ubuntu 18, is there a reason to not be on Ubuntu 20 and above? Version 18 is end of life with updates and I manually updated my Veeam instance from 18 to 20 and its working great.

The new image is running Ubuntu 22.04, that's a typo from the AWS side. They promised it to fix it in 6-8 business days.

And next time, I would NOT recommend upgrading the OS to the next major version manually, as it might lead to unforeseen issues.

I manually went from 20.04 to 22 and it broke my Veeam, I had to deploy the new image on Amazon and restore my configuration. Not sure what happened, but Veeam would not start. My new version is up and running from the old configuration so its good now.

This is exactly why manual upgrade of the OS is not recommended (not tested by us).

Yeah lesson learned, I will not be doing that again just update via Veeam itself.
