Small Business Server 2011 Service Pack 1 Compatibility
I can't see anything definitive in the Veeam docs regarding compatibility with Windows Small Business Server 2011 Service Pack 1. Is that supported by Veeam officially for the Windows Agent?
Unofficially, does anyone have it working?
I'm not particularly aware of how Microsoft was doing Windows Server releases for some of the more specific-use-case versions of Windows, like Small Business Server or Storage Server, back then so I'm not aware if that might just be included in Veeam's support for Windows Server 2008 or 2012.

Windows Small Business Server 2011 AFAIK is a "fancier" version of 2008 R2 released in 2010 and is out of support since January 2020 by Microsoft.

I'm aware it's no longer supported by Microsoft, but neither is Server 2012, and while I want to tell our customers that they can't be expecting to use software Microsoft no longer supports, Veeam still says they support it so that sort of negates any argument I could make regarding Microsoft support because Veeam is actively saying it should still work.
For that matter, Veeam still says they support Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1.

So that would seem to suggest SBS 2011 is supported, but I have a computer that's failing for no apparent reason and before I dig too much into it I was wondering if it might be possible that Veeam doesn't actually support it.

Only reason I personally don't think Veeam should support it is because Microsoft doesn't, and for our small team, it's challenging to support a wider variety of Windows Server versions, but as long as Veeam is claiming it should work I can't just tell the customer they need to upgrade their system. Not saying Veeam needs to change their business practices, just commenting that it's unusual for companies to support something that has been out of support by the manufacturer, or software developer, for so long, as SBS 2011 has been.

Your customers should rather be worried about all the unpatched security vulnerabilities they're having when running end of life software. Just look at how many security updates Exchange is receiving. Exchange 2010 is end of life since 3 years and even Exchange 2013 shares the same fate now. Same goes for 2008R2 and soon 2012.
Every single day imposes a huge risk to your customer's IT, so they shouldn't let the backup vendor decide whether to migrate or not.

I agree, but we only provide backup services, they have a separate company providing general IT services as an MSP, so unfortunately we can't really do much there. I guess it'll be okay for now, I assume eventually Veeam will stop supporting it, but I'm guessing they're more likely to go to a different backup software rather than upgrade their server.
