Notification for manually deleted backups

Post by Matt.Sharpe » 1 person likes this post

Hi Guys,

Just curious if anyone has a script/utility created to be notified for when backups are manually deleted and then an SMTP alert to be notified.

I've seen this forum post, just curious if anyone has this implemented in production?

Hi @Matt.Sharpe,

I don't have a script made already, but Egor's answer there works just fine still on fully patched v12.

I guess you really just need to decide:

1. How frequently do you want to check?
2. How should your script alert you?

2 is pretty simple with Powershell Send-MailMessage.

If it were me, I guess I'd check every 10-15 minutes with Egor's code, but it might make more sense just to parse the EventViewer for the event ID instead; less stress on the Veeam Database.

A quick search shows this guide: https://clusteringformeremortals.com/20 ... rver-2016/

I think it should be pretty useful.
