Veeam5|Veeam6 :: Backup behavior from perspective of disk

Hi Veeam Experts -

I have a question regarding the behavior of a full (not synthetic) backup and a job deletion operation from the perspective of the target storage device. Does a full backup, for whatever reason, perform reads as well as writes, to the target storage device? Also, is the data pattern sequential or random? Also, when full backup jobs are "deleted" (let's just say you just didn't care about the contents of that backup), the contents of that (soon-to-be) deleted backup job still get read into by the Veeam server? And, do you know if these reads would be sequential or random?

Hi, active full backup is sequential reads on source, sequential writes on target (aside of occasional metadata updates).
When you delete the whole backup, all backup files are deleted without reading them... why would we read them?
