MinIO, Docker, TLS

Post by NorthGuard »

I am experimenting with running MinIO in Docker on a QNAP NAS.

While I have the container up and running, the default config does not have TLS configured and that means I can't configure Veeam to connect to it.

I have spent entirely too much time trying to figure out how to connect to the MinIO instance to generate a self-signed cert ( using the certgen command ) and am stumped.

Does anyone have ideas/instructions/documentation on how to get this working?

Additive Note: I have Veeam backing up to QuObject S3 objects, but so far at least 3 different QNAPs are starting to exhibit issues with this config. I want to setup a S3 instance with MinIO on the same NAS to see if the same issues occur.

While not recommended it is possible to switch to HTTP. Refer to object-storage-f52/object-store-with-ht ... 86298.html

@NorthGuard I use this tutorial whenever I need to set up MinIO in my labs at home and at Veeam: Setting up MinIO with self-signed certs to work with Veeam

Hope this helps.

The hurdle I am facing is that I can't figure out how to connect to the MinIO server inside the docker container to run the commands. :-(
