Windows Server 2008 Backup through agent

Post by Kaizad »

Dear All

I have a very old server that is running an application that does not work on other windows at the moment. Currently the Server is a VM and is running Windows Server 2008 Standard SP2. I have installed Veeam Backup and Replication 9.5.4.2866.Update4b (community edition) and am trying to backup the VM using an agent. The agent on the VM is not installing as it says that I might be running an outdated service pack. Is there some windows KB that I am missing because in the release notes for Veeam Backup and Replication 9.5.4.2866.Update4b the support for Windows Server 2008 Standard SP2 is available. Any help would be highly appreciated.

Thanking everyone in advance.

The release notes states, that you can install Veeam Backup & Replication 9.5.4 (U4b) on Windows Server 2008 Standard SP2.
That's not the same product as what you are trying to install. Our Veeam Agent has always required at least Windows Server 2008 R2 SP2.

I recommend to backup that server as a VM with a VM backup job.

Thanks for the quick response Fabian but if do that as a VM backup job it asks to register the host or else it wont allow me to just backup a VM. I cannot add the host as it is ESXi 4.0.0. Any other solution to help me?

Unfortunately the server operation system and ESXI version are too old.
I don't have a solution with Veeam products.
