Site backup traffic from central console

Post by fverdolini »

Dear All,

The query is the following:

If I have the VBR console at the head office and the host of branch A and its NAS are registered, does the backup traffic travel to the head office and then reach the NAS?

Or is there a way to configure so that the backup is done directly from the esxi to the nas? veeam proxy is for this?

thank you so much.

Hello, the VBR console does not participate in data movement any case, nor the VBR server. Data always goes directly from a Backup Proxy to a Backup Repository (or it's gateway server, in case of "dumb" repositories like NAS). So just ensure both are located in Branch A.

Please note that we don't recommend using low-end NAS as backup repositories for reliability considerations. They have really poor track record in Support.
