VeeamB&R 12 creates one full backup for each server for one job

Post by AlexLeadingEdge »

Hi guys,

We have just built a new replacement backup server and installed VeeamB&R 12, which I've imported a settings backup for.

Today I notice that on one of the two new removable drives the backup copy job has a full backup for each server while the other removable drive has one backup for all servers within the backup copy job.

Is this expected behaviour? Why did one drive get one type of full backup, while the other got another type of full backup?

Hello Alex

From reading your forum post it looks expected. But you may always check with support.

In v12, per-machine backup chains becomes mandatory for backup copy jobs.
Also if you have imported v11 per-job chains (immediate copy) and mapped them to a backup copy job, those chains will be updated to the new v12 format. Which means, after the mapping Veeam will automatically create a single backup chain per workload.
