Restore from Storage Snapshot

Post by kanand72 »

I dont see any option to do a VM restore from a storage snapshot..
Only instant recovery option is available ....
Is there any particular reason why this is so ?

Hello K Anand

Storage Snapshots are not backup files where you can run a normal restore from.
When you start a instant recovery, we will send a command to the storage appliance to create a clone of the snapshot and mount the cloned snapshot as a datastore. The VM will then be registered from the cloned snapshot in vSphere and powered on. When you are ready, you can move it to the production datastore.

The question is whether you even see the storage snapshots available for restores in your Storage Infrastructure node.
