CopyJob with Veeam Cloud Connect or S3 Storage

We want to create a Backup CopyJob that will write the data to an external destination.

You can choose between the Veeam Cloud Connect or an S3 storage.

Are there functional differences in terms of compression during transmission, functions, etc.? Or is it considered equivalent?

what would be your choice?

Cloud Connect repositories are hosted by Veeam service provider. You will send your data to their backup repository. Cloud Connect comes with limitations regarding backup and restore operations:

If you decide to go with object storage, you will have less restore limitations today as with cloud connect:

Our service provider may also have object storage as a service in their service portfolio. Or you can choose from one of the supported object storage appliances or cloud provider object storage services. Please check our Veeam Ready and Veeam Integrated database for supported devices or servuces

Keep in mind a service provider offering Cloud Connect may have additional features you can use above and beyond anything an external S3 service can give you (such as replication, recovering your backups to their environment, etc). You have to determine your business needs and what works best for you.
