Protected Server or VM NTFS verifications

Post by ryan1cf »

Hello,

I have discovered that VBR does not have a built-in File System Check (specifically NTFS) for testing a protected Server/VM after a backup has completed successfully.
Is anyone doing this sort of check with a SureBackup job and a post script?

Thanks,
Ryan

Hi Ryan

Correct, we don't provide NTFS file system checks.
Outside of a Surebackup job you may try to use our data integration api and then run chkdsk against the mounted restore point:

Thanks for the quick reply.

We're going to try using a script test in a SureBackup job that runs a chkdsk on all volumes, so far I have a working script and now just need to test it out on a SureBackup job.

Hi Ryan

For SureBackup Jobs, you can use your chkdsk script as a custom verification script.
Add it as a test script:
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... t-settings

Make sure that it produces an return value of 0 if the chkdsk was successful. SureBackup Job will recognize it as a successful test.

We have some examples in our VeeamHub (BR-Surebackup):
