Save Backup Blob

Post by sarapinho »

Hello,

I have a linux agent and I would like the backup to be sent directly to the azure blob is it possible? or should I use a blobfuse to mount a specific folder? This agent is not managed by any VBR.

Thanks

Good day,

You can add Azure Blob as object (backup) storage, following the instructions provided in the user guide.

https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/agent ... tml?ver=60

However, if you use blobfuse to mount a specific folder, the egress traffic during the restore process will be significantly higher, potentially resulting in increased costs.

Hello,

Thanks for the answer, I understood the question of the restore having a higher cost. But an agent free blobfuse should work without major problems?

Thanks

Hi,

As Blobfuse2 - A Microsoft supported Azure Storage FUSE driver, can mount storage like any other filesystem, there should not be any problem.
Looking forward to hear your test results.

Hi,

I did this test, if I manually go to the folder that is mounted with blobfuse I can create folders and files normally, but when I run the veeam agent backup, an access denied error occurs.

I'll run some more tests...

Hello,

You can utilize the "-o allow_other" option when executing the blobfuse command to mount it, which will configure the mounted directory with permissions set to 777, ensuring that backups can run smoothly.
However, it's essential to be aware that this configuration grants access to the mounted directory for all users on the system.
