Image-level

Post by perjonsson1960 »

Folks,

I just noticed that in the list of backup copies we have three that says "Image-level" in the "Platform" column.
This is not something that I have configured myself, at least not knowingly. It is on a hardened repo. What does "Image-level" mean?

Two of them are backup copies of ordinary physical Windows machines, and one is backup copies of VMs residing in a standalone VMware host.

We are running B&R 12.0.0.1420 P20230718.

Kind regards,
PJ

Hello Per Jonsson

Previously in older versions, a backup copy job per source type had to be created.

In Veeam Backup & Replication V12, we introduced a new type of backup copy job. It allows you to copy VM level backups from Hypervisors (VmWare, HyperV, AHV, RHV) and Veeam Agent backups within the same backup copy job. Backup copies produced by a backup copy job in v12 will be listed as "Image-level" backup copy. Legacy backup copy jobs still show the old platform type.

Best,
