No backups of user and shared mailboxes since 7.0.0.4385
Hi,
We've just installed the latest patch (7.0.0.4385) and did some test runs. It seems that all the user and shared mailboxes are not being processed by the backup jobs anymore.
The only thing it seems to backup, are the Microsoft 365 Groups. The OneDrive and SharePoint/Teams jobs are running fine.
Is anybody experiencing the same issue?

Hmmm,
That is weird. Especially since you say that M365 Groups are being processed. Could you create a support call for this one? At this point in time I am not yet aware of other support calls for this.

Oh I think I got it working again. I found in the logging the following:
Error: Unable to connect to the resource. The specified Azure AD application is missing required application permissions (Microsoft API: Exchange, permissions: Exchange.ManageAsApp)
Error: The specified Azure AD application is missing required application roles (Microsoft Graph API: Exchange, role: Global Reader, Exchange Administrator, Global Administrator)
Then I checked the KB for manually adding the App registration (https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/vbo36 ... tml?ver=70) and found the following note at 'Exchange.ManageAsApp':
Note: This permission is required only to back up public folder and discovery search mailboxes as well as determine correctly object type for shared mailboxes starting from Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 version 7 CP4 (build 7.0.0.3968). This permission works along with the Global Reader role granted to the Azure AD application. For more information, see Granting Global Reader Role to Azure AD Application.
I added the 'Exchange.ManageAsApp' permission to the API permissions and added the App registration to the Global Readers.
Now the user and shared mailboxes are not being skipped anymore.
Now the only thing I'm getting is a error on the public folder:
Processing mailbox xxx@xxx.onmicrosoft.com failed with error: Failed to access public folders.. There are no public folder servers available. :: 0:00:55
But that's a problem for another time.

and where did you find the download link for ISO for this new version?
The one form here https://www.veeam.com/kb4425 dowloads again the old version P20230512 (7.0.0.3604).
Was the new version removd due to the problems?

We are working now with a team to trying to understand what the problem is (not all people have the above issue, it seems to be with a specific config) and in the meantime we have temporarily halted the download of the new ISO. Normally the KB should be adapted today also but as said, we are now gathering information on what this specifically is causing. I personally cross my fingers we can have it fixed before end of this day

Already got mails about it being an issue, also got a reaction that there is a private fix for the people who installed the latest patch.

My problem is limited only for backup jobs where the selection is the entire organization..if I try to add a user manually it works..

The latest fix will work even if you don't give the permissions, but it will not give you then the possibility to backup public folders, you will need the permissions for those
