Cisco Endpoint Protection and Secure Restore

Post by kis@dme.as »

Hi

I have tried getting Cisco to elaborate in how to getting their AV solution to work with Secure Restore. No luck so far.

Does any other use the Cisco AV for the secure Restore?

Hi,

Cisco Endpoint Protection, to our knowledge, does not offer a Windows based CLI scanner (only a Calm AV based Linux one).
As Secure Restore today requires the scanner to be on Windows there is no was to integrate it with Cisco Endpoint.
What you can do is leverage the Data Integration API to expose the restore points to a linux server and use Cisco Endpoint to scan from there.
That works very well.

Hope that helps.
Thanks

Hi Stefan

Do Veeam have any kind of solution documentation on it? It sounds very useful for me.

Best regards Kim

Hi Kim,

the official documentation can be found here: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... n_api.html.

In my GitHub repo you'll find a Powershell script that leverages ClamAV on Linux. But you can easily replace it with the necessary commands for Cisco Endpoint. https://github.com/yetanothermightytool ... estore.ps1

Happy coding!

As for using Cisco Secure Endpoint with Data Integration API there is no official documentation on our side today.
you would need to follow the data integration API documentation (https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120) and once you mounted it to your linux server you can just execute a scan with Cisco Endpoint.
Its only a couple of lines in powershell to get this done.
