Veeam and S3 Consistency level

Post by archvector »

Hi there,

I would like to know if there are limitations concerning the choice of consistency level while using VEEAM v12.
I use the latest Netapp Storage Grid 11.7 (on prems S3 compatible storage that use consistency level that are quite similar to Amazon S3 consistency levels)

Are there any drawbacks or performance impacts between consistencies level? or is there a preferred consistency level to chose?

Thanks !

@archvector VBR v12 only supports strong consistency. To help with configuring StorageGrid to work with v12, NetApp recently published their StorageGRID best practices for deployment with Veeam Backup and Replication and within that guide they recommend the following:
Veeam requires strong consistency for S3 buckets. So, for multi-site deployments with Veeam accessing the data from multiple locations, select “strong-global”. If Veeam backups and restores happen at a single site only, consistency level should be set to “strong-site”.
Hope this answers your question.
