Rescanning of Disk

Post by johnjolly »

Question:

I am running a batch script to automate the deletion of all files and folders that are older than 4 days in a specific shared directory. Once the script completes the only way I am able to view the change in disk space is to run an scan/analysis of the directory in question. Is there a way to automate this so that the free disk space will be reflected immediately without manually running an analysis of the disk?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
I still try to understand about what Veeam component your question is.
Is it about a shared folder as a backup repository? Or is it about Shared Folder as a source for a Backup Job.

For backup repository:
We don't recommend to use manual scripting to delete backup files. You should lower the retention of the backup job if you don't have enough space.
If you delete the backup files outside of Veeam, you need to run a rescan of this repository in the backup console to reflect the new amount of available space.

This can be automated via PowerShell: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120
Followed by a second cmdlet to missing Restore Points: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120
