SBRO backup while performance extend is offline

Hi all,

Is it possible to backup to a SBRO if the only performance tier extent is offline, but the capacity tier is still available?

I know restores will work from Capacity but will I need to create a new temporary performance tier extent and enable 'Perform full backup when the required extent is offline' to get new backups running in the meantime?

This is correct, backups will not be sent directly to the capacity tier when the performance tier is unavailable. You could exactly as described add a new temporary performance tier extent, once your original performance tier is back online you can evacuate the temporary storage and remove it again should you wish to do so.
