Enterprise Manager - Report only User

Post by Backup2Floppy »

Hello Community,

I hope I'm right with this question here, it is more of a design question if not I'm sorry and you can delete this post.

we are currently using the Veeam Enterprise Manager in our company. We now wanted to use the API to monitor backup jobs in our monitoring tool.
When we now checked the documentation on user roles, we noticed that there is only a limited selection of roles, and each and every one of them includes permissions to restore. It would be nice to have a read only user who can just call on the API for job results.

Are we missing something or is the only way to get a "read only user" to create a server operator and scope him to be only able to restore in an empty object container?

Thanks a lot.

PS: For those who may find this post searching for monitoring and their Veeam Sensors, at the moment of this post we needed to give the user portal administrator and only allow the PRTG server to access the API, since only that role worked for us not even the scoped or unscoped server operator role, but that's an issue we relay will to the PRTG forum.

Setting up a user with a limited scope is the way to go at the moment - if using Enterprise Manager, as there is no "read only" role that does not have any restore permissions of any kind.

Please note though, the Veeam Backup Server also has an API that in fact does have a 'Veeam Backup Viewer' role: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120

You can find the full API details here: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120
