Adding HPE StoreOnce to Backup Infrastructure - Question

Post by s.hayden »

Hello!

We have an HPE StoreOnce with interfaces connected to a management network and two interfaces connected to a data network. When adding it to backup infrastructure as a repository do we add the DNS name of the management interfaces or doing we add the data path IP / DNS name? If adding the management interface, does the catalyst protocol know to select the appropriate data network interfaces for data transfer?

Hi Scot, you need to use the data interface name/address to add the array into Veeam B&R. Thanks!

Does the VBR server need to have access to the interfaces or do only the proxies need access?

If I wanted to have the data network be isolated (not routed) in *both* the Production or DR data centres, will Veeam interact with the DR StoreOnce via the proxy / gateway server? Or does the VBR server need to be able to reach the DR StoreOnce over the data network?

In general, only the gateway server needs access to the array. But given (depending on setup) backup server can serve as a gateway, it is mentioned as ''backup server or gateway server" in the system requirements meaning it will always be a single server but could be either backup server or a dedicated gateway. Proxies do not need access to the target array.

We have 2 interfaces on our gateways. 1 is for communication to VBR, the other is the 10GB link to the StoreOnce on a separate network.
We add the GW's into VBR using the IP range accessible to VBR.

Hope that helps
