Virtual to physical?

Post by perjonsson1960 »

Folks,

Is it possible to migrate a virtual machine to a physical machine using Veeam B&R?
I was toying with the idea to create recovery media for the physical machine, start a bare-metal restore using the bootable USB-stick, and point it to the backup of the virtual machine. If this is indeed possible, must the backup of the virtual machine be an agent backup, just as if it were a physical machine? And if so, how do I install the agent in the virtual machine? Is it possible to add a virtual machine under the Physical Infrastructure node and install the agent from there?

Kind regards,
PJ

Hello Per Jonsson

Our Veeam Agent requires backups created by a Veeam Agent for a recovery.
You may install Veeam Agent on the virtual machine and take a backup. Then use the recovery media on a physical machine to restore this agent backup.

You can install the agent manually or through a protection group. There is no difference between virtual machines or physical machines when it comes to the Agent installation process.
