Backup to tape jobs shows "Calculating" for over an hour

Hello, hope someone can shed some light on this. I have a couple "Backup to Tape" jobs. Usually they execute as "Secondary Target" jobs in a Backup job. But I want to run them on their own (we ran out of tapes, so they didn't execute on the schedule). I started them, but they've been sitting there, just showing status as "Calculating ..." for over an hour. The question is.. why? One other tape job is executing. There are no other jobs (i.e., backups, etc) currently executing, only these 3 tapes jobs. One is writing, 2 are calculating.

All are in the same media pool, and I have verified that parallel processing is enabled on the pool, for all 3 drives (I only have 3), as well as process independent data sources simukltaneously (which I don't think applies in this case). There's plenty of space on the tapes in the pool, and I even have like 9 tapes in the FREE pool it can draw on.

So why aren't these jobs starting? What am I not understanding here?

UPDATE: Ok, both jobs eventually started. I was busy with other duties, couldn't see how long it took before it started. The job notification just lists the job start time - not the time it sat there calculating before it actually did something ...
