Need to add an older backup to Veeam to retrieve data

Post by Steben »

We have all our backups on two QNAP's. In the beginning there was one but as it filled the agent added another but then created a new backup on there. Since his departure we have had the two setup using SOBR. I now need to access some data in the old backup. I am rusty with Veeam as I have lost access to it for some years and this was all done without consultation or input from me as I was here when we added Veeam.

Can anyone help with how I access the data on the qnap please? I am guessing to add the repository I will need to work between the QNAP and the DR server? I am un sure. Thank you for reading.

Cheers

This may sound like a straightforward task, but it depends a bit on exactly what was done and we don't really know without further details. Take a look at the original QNAP and see if there is a network share there containing the older backups you need to restore from, if yes, then add that network share (UNC path) to Veeam as a new repository and make sure to tell it to scan it for backups (https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120). This will make the backups show up as imported and you can rest from there.
