"activefull" switch not honored

Post by azpets »

Veeam Agent 6.1.0.349 free edition, no connection to any Veeam server, simply backup on SMB share, without any issues.
Source:
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/agent ... tml?ver=60
To create an active full backup, use a command with the following syntax:

If one backup job is configured:

Code: Select all

"C:\Program Files\Veeam\Endpoint Backup\Veeam.EndPoint.Manager.exe" /activefull
Actual behavior, straight from command prompt (as administrator)

Code: Select all

C:\Program Files\Veeam\Endpoint Backup>Veeam.EndPoint.Manager.exe backup /activefull
[30.12.2023 09.35.26] <01> Error Invalid args: unknown argument [/activefull]
As free edition, it has only one profile.

Is software working as intended?

If the answer is "yes", please, in which part of documentation is reported that switches works in different ways between free and licensed version?

Best wishes to everyone :-)

In your command you have the argument 'backup' in addition to '/fullbackup'. What happens if you only use '/fullbackup'?

Actually... i don't have it.

Code: Select all

C:\Program Files\Veeam\Endpoint Backup>Veeam.EndPoint.Manager.exe backup /activefull
Or better..

Code: Select all

%Drive%:\%Path%\%exe% backup (command) /activefull (switch)
Anyway.
According to the final step of the wizard, my current command for backup is

Code: Select all

"C:\Program Files\Veeam\Endpoint Backup\Veeam.EndPoint.Manager.exe" "backup" "a2d173ce-0155-4ec6-90ae-140d420f1c66"
which works correctly.
This is the output with the option you suggested

Code: Select all

C:\WINDOWS\system32>"C:\Program Files\Veeam\Endpoint Backup\Veeam.EndPoint.Manager.exe" "backup" "a2d173ce-0155-4ec6-90ae-140d420f1c66" /fullbackup
[02.01.2024 14:10:30] <01> Error Invalid args: unknown argument [/fullbackup]
and it's the same adding " before and after /fullbackup.

Happy new year.
:-)

Sorry, I was posting the wrong parameter. I meant just use "/activefull" without the "backup".
So: "C:\Program Files\Veeam\Endpoint Backup\Veeam.EndPoint.Manager.exe" /activefull

It's the same page I reported in the first post, and that were the answers. (I changed tags from both quotes)

Thanks for clarifying that should works in all versions.

@Regnor the command

Code: Select all

 "C:\Program Files\Veeam\Endpoint Backup\Veeam.EndPoint.Manager.exe" /activefull
actually works; or better, started the backup without errors, currently IDK if it will be an active-full backup.

Thanks for sharing, I hope the documentation will be proofread and checked :-)

Edit: I'm dumb. Documentation is correct, I used the wrong syntax.
